Associate, Data Management

Data helps marketers share the right message to the right person at the right place and time. Technology make those connections possible. This role sits at the intersection of Data and Technology, working among our online media teams.

The Data Management Associate is responsible for the organization, management and analysis of data flowing through the Data Management Platform (DMP) within Empower’s programmatic buying solution, ClearTrade®. The candidate will become well versed in Empower’s DMP tools and data partnerships to recommend and implement the right data for activation in clients’ advertising campaigns. The candidate will work closely with the buying team to ensure proper data flow to buying platforms. The Associate will generate reports, analyze data, build custom audiences, and recommend data uses to buyers based on client or agency objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the storage of 1st and 3rd party data in Empower’s DMP
    • This includes the organization, management and creation of:
      • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) files
      • Tracking tags
      • Target audiences
      • Brand personas/profiles
    • Responsible for on-boarding new data partners and vendors to the DMP
    • Monitors data warehouse to ensure data is tracking
    • Runs reports and analyzes information to provide audience insights and recommendations across brands and campaigns
      • Recognizes trends, errors, and outliers in data reporting
    • Recommends data partners and solutions to buying team
    • Records data testing into Empower’s DMP testing database
    • Works with Empower’s research and analytics teams when appropriate

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher; preference given to Marketing, Marketing Research, Business Analytics, or similar educational backgrounds
  • Experience in a professional office setting
  • Experience working with numbers and generating reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Prior Data Management Platform/Demand Side Platform hands-on experience a plus, but not necessary

Specialist, Programmatic Buying

The Programmatic Buying Specialist pushes the envelope of technological capability in bringing automated advertising campaigns to life. Working as part of the ClearTrade® programmatic buying solution at Empower, the Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, optimizing, and reporting on automated ad campaigns. The Programmatic Buying Specialist embraces change, enjoys coming up with hypotheses and testing them out, has an innate comfort in mathematics, and is an avid learner, able to synthesize outside information or ideas and apply them to client campaigns. The Specialist is equally comfortable working behind the scenes or directly with clients on a case by case basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Work from Campaign Briefs to develop programmatic plan recommendations, including:
    • Developing an understanding of the product/service
    • Investigating potential audience & contextual fits
    • Deploying pixels to inform and improve on the above
  • Activate approved campaigns working with platform partners and internal teams
  • Relentlessly test new and different ways to improve campaign performance against objective
  • Methodically track test scenarios, record learnings, and share widely across the team
  • Assist in pulling reports that help illuminate optimization/performance highlights or develop a better understanding of the audiences/environments that drive performance
  • Participate in internal team meetings on key topics or with important media/technology partners
  • Embrace new opportunities to learn more about or test new automated buying approaches, platforms, technologies

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Self motivated, entrepreneurial
  • Extremely organized, adept note taker

  • Experience with self-serve Demand Side Platforms
  • Data Management Platform experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Experience in a professional capacity that leaned heavily on the regular use of testing and numerical tracking to improve results
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel

Working as part of the ClearTrade® programmatic buying solution at Empower, the Associate is responsible for supporting the planning, execution, optimization, and reporting of client ad campaigns. The Programmatic Buying Associate embraces change, enjoys coming up with hypotheses and testing them out, has an innate comfort in mathematics, and is an avid learner, able to quickly pick up new concepts, tools, and technologies. The Associate works with Programmatic Buying Specialists and generally supports the Online Media Practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Programmatic Buying Specialists in the campaign planning process
  • Working in the technology platform to build and launch approved campaigns
  • Diligently organizing and tracking tactics deployed, relying on hypothesis testing and statistical analysis to understand when those hypotheses are proven or disproven
  • Regularly monitoring and reporting on campaigns
  • Participating in internal team meetings on key topics or with important media/technology partners

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree
