Price to be honored on May 21, 2014 at Horseshoe Casino for His Legacy of Entrepreneurism, Innovation and Philanthropy
During an era when “Mad Men” ruled, Bill Price managed to not only stand out from the crowd, but he also blazed a trail that many, in and outside the advertising industry, would follow. On Wednesday, May 21, 2014, the Cincinnati chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) will present Price with its Silver Medal Award, the city’s most prestigious advertising honor, for his outstanding and ongoing contributions to the marketing industry.
Most know Price as the chairman of one of America’s largest and most successful independent media companies, but his achievements and influence reach beyond Empower MediaMarketing. His career includes working in marketing roles for brands, agencies and media. And his work to help establish the AAF’s Institute of Advertising Ethics will have an industry impact for many years to come.
“It’s a true honor to be recognized by my friends and peers in AAF Cincinnati,” said Price. “While I have the great fortune of calling myself a successful man, it’s largely due to the people I’ve surrounded myself with throughout my career. From working with Leo Burnett, the greatest ‘Mad Man’ of them all, to helping create the Institute of Advertising Ethics with Wally Snyder, AAF president and board member and Bob Wehling, now retired vice president of Procter & Gamble, I’ve learned a great deal from the best. And of course, my wife Mary Beth, who founded Empower nearly 30 years ago and is a past winner of the Silver Medal Award, continues to keep me on my toes.”
In celebration of Price’s tenure during the 60s at the Leo Burnett advertising agency in Chicago, the Silver Medal Award ceremony will be “Mad Men” themed. The luncheon will start at 11:30 a.m. at the Horseshoe Casino. Visit https://aafcincinnati.org/events to register before Friday, May 16, 2014.
“The annual award recipient is selected by a jury of past Silver Medalists. More than a dozen of them have already reserved a seat to celebrate Billy’s award,” said Judy Thompson, 1993 Silver Medalist and executive director of AAF Cincinnati. “This luncheon will be a who’s who of Cincinnati advertising legends, drawing attendees from as far away as San Antonio.”
