Brandery Startup StreamSavvy Nets Empower’s Disruptive Media Fellowship

Empower MediaMarketing Invests $10K in Ad Tech Startup

CINCINNATI  – StreamSavvy, one of the 10 startups in The Brandery’s 2016 class, received Empower MediaMarketing’s Disruptive Media Fellowship, a $10,000 investment in the ad tech startup that’s simplifying streaming media for consumers.

StreamSavvy, founded by Chris Kessler and Carl Lewis, brings all streaming media content together in one, simple application across all screens. The Columbus, Ohio-based startup will target millennials, who lead in the adoption of streaming services, like Netflix and Hulu. In addition to the $10,000 investment from Empower, StreamSavvy will partner with the independent agency to strengthen its business model with media industry insights.

“Empower brings a depth of expertise in the media landscape that’s incredibly valuable,” Chris Kessler, CEO and cofounder of StreamSavvy, said. “Their team’s deep understanding and relationships across the video landscape make this partnership a solid win for StreamSavvy.”

StreamSavvy was announced as one of The Brandery’s selected startups earlier this month. The Brandery, a nationally ranked startup accelerator, accepts less than 1 percent of companies that apply to its program.

Empower has supported The Brandery since it opened in 2010, providing mentors and media planning resources to the entrepreneurs. The agency first invested in the startup Roadtrippers which helped inspire the idea of the Disruptive Media Fellowship. This is the fourth year the agency has awarded its Fellowship to a startup from The Brandery. Previous recipients are popAD in 2013, Dónde in 2014 and AdAdapted in 2016. Along with the $10,000 investment, Empower will provide mentoring services and assess opportunities for its clients and partners to work with StreamSavvy.
