Empower’s Digital Flash Mob “Takes Over” 17 Local Billboards to Promote Agency and Recruit Talent


MEDIA ALERT: Empower Heats up Cincinnati’s Cold Interstates


WHAT:
As the local marketing job market rebounds, Empower MediaMarketing is taking creative measures to tout a recent award and attract talent. The local media and marketing agency created a digital flash mob that is “taking over” 17 Cincinnati billboards along major area interstates. The billboards will be up for a single day as part of a negotiation with Lamar Advertising.

The award is from Advertising Age and designates Empower as a “Great Place to Work in Media and Marketing.” Empower was one of a handful of marketing agencies nationwide singled out for its work environment and employee benefits. Empower felt it necessary to stand out to the local talent base in a different fashion.

Stalwart area drivers from the creative class and the marketing community are the target for this effort. In traditional weather conditions this effort would reach nearly 1 million area residents but Empower’s digital flash mob is considered a success despite up to five inches of snow and more than four hundred closings and delays through the tri-state.

WHO:Empower MediaMarketing, Mt. Adams-based media and marketing agency with clients including Totes-ISOTONER, Chiquita, Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network and U.S. Bank.

WHERE: 17 digital billboards located on interstates 75, 71, 471 and a handful of other related arteries.

WHY: A creative experiment, with the help of Lamar Advertising to create curiosity about Empower.
HOW: Lamar Advertising and Empower’s Out of Home Advertising team negotiated the flash mob.
