Empower MediaMarketing to Pioneer Largest Office in OTR

Agency Partners with 3CDC to Bring 53,600 Square Foot Building to Life

Today, Empower MediaMarketing announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art office building in Over the Rhine (OTR) to house its headquarters in partnership with Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC). The media and marketing agency will start construction this summer with plans of moving into the new facility located on 14th Street between Vine and Walnut in fall 2017. Empower will own the building occupying three floors with plans to lease the fourth floor that’s roughly 15,000 square feet.

“Our plans to move to OTR have been in motion for years as we believed in the area’s resurgence from the get-go,” said Jim Price, president and CEO of Empower MediaMarketing. “Cincinnati is the greatest place on earth to be a consumer marketer and we’re proud to be making a commitment to the city with this new office build. Additionally, we strongly believe that OTR’s energy will foster inspiration and collaboration among the startup community, clients and talent.”

“Empower will be a key conduit to the OTR community,” said Steve Leeper president and CEO of 3CDC. “By adding Empower as OTR’s largest business they will serve the neighborhood well by adding vibrancy to the startup and tech scene.”

In addition to 3CDC, key contributors in the deal include Bellwether Enterprises as the development partner, Michael Schuster and Associates (MSA) and A359 as the architects and Oswald Construction as the contractor. Financing and new market tax allocation was led by U.S. Bank.

“We are excited to support Empower in their new endeavor to be a pioneer in the OTR neighborhood,” said Mike Prescott, U.S. Bank Cincinnati market president. “Empower has been an outstanding partner for the bank for more than 23 years as we have worked together on our banking and marketing innovation.”

The new office design is built on four key principles: adaptiveness, health and well-being, transparency and openness. There will be no closed-wall offices and best-in-class technology to demonstrate future-focused marketing strategies for clients. The open concept will house Empower’s 150 local employees and allow the agency to adapt to various setups as the company evolves.

Empower has resided at 1111 St. Gregory Street in Mt. Adams for nearly 13 years. The company’s lease with Towne Properties included three floors of workspace and a two-level parking garage with a visitor lot. Empower also has offices in Chicago and New York City.

“We’ve enjoyed our time in Mt. Adams and have a deep level of respect for the Bortz family, owner of Towne Properties, and all they have done for us, but are looking forward to our new home in OTR,” said Price.
