Cincinnati Children’s Hospital had heard about our work and came to us for some fresh thinking for their 2014 Annual Report. They didn’t want the same ol’, same ol’. And why would they? They’re special. The #3 ranked children’s hospital in the US, Children’s wanted their annual report to be a page turner with more engagement and more talk value than ever before.
We got to work. And what we found is that Children’s employees and doctors walk right by their inspiration every day at work. Brave children. In every room. The kids needed to be a part of what we did.
The concept — an annual report that doubles as a coloring book for kids, by kids. What’s more un-annual report than a coloring book?
The title of the report — “Filling in the Future.” Through research and treatment, this is what is happening at Children’s every single day.
Children of all ages were asked to draw images that were reflective of what made them happy or how they envisioned the future, among other things. Those drawings became the coloring book pages and other images within the annual report that brought a literal interpretation to “Filling in the Future.”
Over 15,000 books were printed and released to Children’s supporters. The response has been fantastic. And many of the books were delivered with crayons attached — instant coloring book annual report! The work has already started receiving industry accolades as well, with a GOLD ADDY given by AAF Cincinnati.
