Paid Search Specialist

Working as part of Empower’s Search Team, this role will be responsible for the expert strategy, day to day management, execution and relationship management of Google, Bing, retail partners like Walmart, Roundel, and Amazon, and general ecommerce efforts. The ideal candidate will be someone with deep understanding of all Search Engine Management (Paid Search and Shopping) best practices and principals specific to ecommerce and ecommerce clients as well as the retail category.  Experience working with retail clients and understanding the relationship between online and offline is preferred. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with our team of Specialists to come up with hypotheses and testing them out, has an innate comfort in mathematics, and is an avid learner, able to synthesize outside information or ideas and apply them to client campaigns.


We value the power of collaboration and teamwork; hence the candidate should be committed to working 4 days a week out of the hired city office (Cincinnati, Chicago, or Atlanta).



Responsibilities:

  • Work from Campaign Briefs to help develop plan recommendations, including:
  • Developing an understanding of the product/service being promoted within the brief
  • Generating paid search campaigns including keyword builds, ad group development, and ad copy
  • Works closely with Specialists recommending search engines, partners and platforms to use based on client KPIs
  • Flawlessly setup and activate approved campaigns in technology platforms such as Google Ads, (includes Shopping, GDN, YouTube, Discovery Ads, etc.), Bing Ads (includes Microsoft Audience Network), and Amazon Ads
  • Own multiple campaigns with multiple MCCs for multiple clients
  • Driven towards ROAS-specific expectations by product and category
  • Work with multiple internal teams including digital media planners, analytics, and client teams
  • Work closely with Specialists to relentlessly tests new and different ways to improve campaign performance against objective
  • Use analytical data to create forecasting, reports, and insights to share widely across the team
  • Oversee performance reporting, providing key insights and tracking against campaign KPIs and benchmarks
  • Heavy emphasis will be put on reporting and forecasting (daily, weekly, monthly) and the idea of owning, interpreting and relaying data trends
  • Assist in leading internal team meetings on key topics or with important media/technology partners and vendors
  • Embrace new opportunities to learn more about or test new automated buying approaches, platforms, technologies
  • Stays up to date on industry knowledge and shares knowledge regularly with the team
  • Knowledge up-keep specific to the interaction of both ecommerce and paid search will be a focal point.
  • Works closely with and mentors’ members on the Search team across multiple accounts to provide support and guidance in campaign management


Qualifications/Education/Experience:

  • Experience with Search Engines Platforms (Amazon, Google, Yahoo, Bing), required
  • Experience with digital ad platforms such as Kenshoo, Marin, etc. required
  • Experience with Google Analytics a plus
  • SEO and SEO Tool experience is a plus
  • Local Listings (Yelp, Yext, GMB, etc.) is a plus
  • 5-7+ years of experience preferred
  • 3+ years specific to ecommerce/retail experience
  • Experience connecting online to offline (Google SSD data integrations)
  • Experience with product feed management tools (Feednomics, for example)
  • Proven track record of exceeding ROAS-specific goals within ecommerce
  • Passionate for digital marketing, search, display, social, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Experience in a professional capacity that leans heavily on the regular use of testing and numerical tracking to improve results
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel

  • Proven ability to think through testing objectives, develop tests, track performance, and understand when enough data has been collected to make a determination
