CINCINNATI (August 14, 2018) – When Rob FitzGerald envisioned what the agency of the future looked like and then was offered the opportunity to become president and chief operating officer at The Creative Media Agency, Empower his decision was simple. “It’s my dream job,” he said. And with Cincinnati’s growing reputation as a hotbed for artisanal maker-level talent, Empower was a clear choice for the former president of New York City based agency, We are Social.
“I want to lead an agency my family would be proud to work at,” FitzGerald said. “Empower delivers on that promise by having a long history of trust and transparency, steady growth, and an appetite for evolving. Additionally, Empower’s independence offers a competitive edge of agility and flexibility that clients crave and holding companies struggle to provide. Simply put: Empower brings the rare opportunity to be professionally fulfilled and live a superior quality of life while being on the cutting edge of media-centric creativity.
Empower CEO Jim Price scoured the globe for a leader with all the right qualities and found them in FitzGerald. “He is a world-renowned strategic visionary who brings an authentic and cultural perspective to our business that will complement and challenge our talent and clients in all the right ways. We conducted a rigorous search for a president and COO who would embody our position as The Creative Media Agency that Builds Trust at Scale and deliver on it. FitzGerald has a proven track record of leading media, creative and social agencies into record-breaking growth and permeating the perfect blend of logic and magic within an agency environment,” Price said.
Born and raised in England, FitzGerald has worked in all aspects of the agency business all over the world, including strategy, social media, creative, media and operations. He’s held senior roles at global agency giants, serving as president of OMD in China and managing director of Initiative in Tokyo. For the last 12 years he’s been immersed in the New York City ad scene as COO and media director at GlobalHue Ventures, managing director at BIG Fuel, a Starcom MediaVest Group company, and most recently as president of We Are Social.
His impressive client portfolio includes the likes of Adidas, Puma, Revlon, Kao, T-Mobile, Verizon, Pepsi, McDonald’s, P&G, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Ally Bank, Jeep and Chrysler. On top of that, FitzGerald has participated as a regular judge for Adweek’s Media Plan of the Year and MEDIA’s Creative Media Awards, and judged the Global Effie Awards in 2016 and 2017. This further solidifies Price’s trust in FitzGerald’s innate understanding of what it takes for a team to produce Creative Media solutions that drive business results.
“His peers unanimously sing his praises as being one who bravely raises the bar creatively – consistently pushing for Cannes Gold Lion level of ideas no matter the brand or budget fueling it,” Price said. “His teammates agree he’s trustworthy and makes work more fun – and people are at their best when they’re having fun. His definition of success is when those around him succeed. And that’s a change agent we can all be motivated to come to work for.”
