Shannon leads Empower’s Business Development efforts, engaging with prospective clients and partners to form meaningful connections, understand their needs and vision, and tailor Empower’s services into a solution that best supports their business. With a background in client services and agency operations, Shannon unites cross-functional teams within Empower to create cohesive strategies that provide value to clients, customers, and the agency alike.

An East Coast native, Shannon graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston College. She joined Empower in 2019 after spending eight years at agencies within Publicis, Omnicom, and IPG, as well as a boutique creative independent. Her client experience spans sectors and the globe, from financial services giants such as Liberty Mutual, MassMutual, and Bank of America to family owned startups and beloved brands such as Dunkin’ Donuts, Wüsthof, and Accor Hotels.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
Beyond helping to shape the strategic direction of our portfolio of partnerships, I like to think of my role as a “matchmaker,” representing our prospective partners within the agency to make sure we are accurately hearing their needs and designing the best path to success. I love that every day and every new client engagement provides a fresh challenge to think through and an opportunity to put our best foot forward and drive tangible business impact.
Why did you make the leap from holding companies to independent agencies?
Starting my career within corporate agencies was an excellent way to learn the best practices and processes behind our business. After transitioning to my first independent and experiencing the flexibility that it afforded to think creatively and make decisions in the best interests of our clients and employees, there has been no turning back. What attracted me to Empower specifically is the balance of the scale, stability, and resources that are usually only found in the large conglomerates with the nimbleness, responsiveness, and familial culture that are hallmarks of the best independents.

What helps you re-energize outside of work?
Animal obsessed, I am happiest at the barn and have been riding hunter/jumpers since I was eight years old. It’s not always easy to find the time or to get motivated on chilly nights, but I think it’s important to keep doing what you are most passionate about, and the pony nuzzles definitely make it worth it!
