“Consumers don’t search online for products; they search for solutions. Using information from 64 million search queries and 2.5 million online mentions of DIY and home decor, Empower developed a taxonomy to create a hierarchy relevant to consumer interest and the way they tackled projects (room-by-room and seasonally), and then with media partner and social influencers built how-to videos weighted toward those interests. The result: one featured product saw a 40% year-to-year sales increase.”
